CRN, a brand that is part of the Ferretti Group in Italy, has just released details about the 198-foot custom yacht Comfortably Numb.
The yacht, which was delivered in December 2022, is a fully custom aluminum build. Its design, naval architecture, engineering and construction were all handled at the Ancona Superyacht Yard.
“The shipyard’s design and build quality blends admirably with the creativity of Italian architects Nuvolari Lenard, who developed the concept for the exterior styling and interiors,” according to CRN’s team. “The result is a totally bespoke, handcrafted ship with spaces designed to offer a fantastic cruising experience, perfect for an owner family who enjoy spending long periods on board.”
CRN says the owners’ brief called for a high-performance displacement yacht. Comfortably Numb has a reduced draft and in-line propellers for cruising in the Caribbean’s shallower areas. CRN says it also developed “a system of extremely precise strain gauges to constantly monitor the vessel’s weight and center of gravity via Wi-Fi,” and the yard used lightweight cork during the application and leveling of the teak decking.
The two MTU 20V 4000 M93L engines were the first to be fitted on a CRN yacht. They are combined with a Selective Catalytic Reduction system for a reported top speed of more than 25 knots and a cruising speed of 22.5 knots. The yacht meets IMO Tier III standards. According to CRN, there’s a reduction of up to 70 percent in harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides in the engine exhaust.
Inside, the owners wanted “generous ceiling heights” with light-filled, sole-to-ceiling windows. The yacht’s gross tonnage is 1,114 with five decks, and accommodations for 12 guests. There also are quarters for 13 crew.
Since the delivery of Comfortably Numb, CRN has also launched the 237-footer known as M/Y 179. That steel-hull yacht, delivered in 2023, has a Nuvolari Lenard interior with exteriors by Valicelli Design. CRN was responsible for the naval architecture.
When did the Ancona Superyacht Yard’s operational headquarters officially open? In December 2023. The headquarters spans more than 45,200 square feet for a technical office and space for project managers, architects, logistics specialists and more. The shipyard overall totals more than 860,000 square feet and can handle construction on yachts as large as 295 feet. CRN’s yachts are built there, along with Custom Line yachts, larger Riva yachts and the Pershing 140.
