The Seaway Promenade and Moondarewa Spit redevelopment project has been recognised with the City of Gold Coast Urban Design Award for Public Projects at their triannual awards evening on 9 November 2023.

The Revitalisation project was a key outcome of The Spit Master Plan Implementation undertaken by the Queensland Government and delivered by Gold Coast Waterways Authority.

The award recognises projects which exhibit a high standard of excellence in design and execution of a public or institutional nature.

The collaborative project that included design firm, Place Design Group and engineering firm Michael Bale and Associates is a strong example of positive open space design within the context of foreshore infrastructure.
