Marine Department of the Hong Kong

The Port of Hong Kong has always been a key factor in the economic development of the Hong Kong SAR. It is a hub port serving the South Asian Pacific region and acts as an entreport for the Mainland of China. It is one of the busiest container ports in the world. In terms of vessel arrivals and departures, and cargo and passenger throughput, it is also one of the major ports of the world.

Being the administrator of the port, our principal functions are to ensure safe operation of the port and all Hong Kong waters as well as to operate the Hong Kong Shipping Register and safeguard the quality of the Hong Kong registered ships.

Our mission is "We are One in Promoting Excellence in Marine Services". Keeping in touch with the world through the Internet is one of the many measures we have taken to achieve that goal.
